About us

The Union High School FIRST robotics team, Ubotics, is dedicated to bringing engineering and technology into the spotlight within their school and community and is working to create a reputation of excellence in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics for Union High School. Ubotics strives to give participating students valuable experience that they will be able to use in order to excel in college and their future careers in the STEM fields.

In the first week of each year, FIRST Robotics Competition releases an animation describing the challenge; then they release their kit of parts and rules for the game.  From that day on, teams are given six weeks to design and build a suitable robot.  Ubotics goes through an intensive build season. We start with understanding the challenge and then move onto brainstorming. After prototyping and testing, we design and build our final robot.  When the six weeks are over, we bag the robot and head off to competition. These events consist of about 50 teams from all over the world and teach communication, teamwork, and Gracious Professionalism.

Ubotics has a major impact on Union High School students who are interested in future STEM careers. The involvement in our program has encouraged students to become mechanical, electrical, and, computer engineers.  Our past members have earned over $200,000 in scholarships due to their involvement in our program.  We also demonstrate our robots to professional organizations and even elementary school students.  This allows us to spread excitement for robotics and STEM education to the Tulsa community.
